All cars are junk

I have never understood people's fascination with cars.


I mean, the advantages are pretty obvious, but the leftie in me has always questioned the need for everyone to have a car - you know - even if just for the pollution factor.  Manufacturing them, the fumes that spew forth, the petrol and oil to run them,  the landfill.   Motor racing astounds me with all the money that is poured in to this sport that encourages wanton destruction of fossil fuel.  It seems these days cars are no longer a luxury but a necessary evil, in order to compete with our fellow humans and simply earn a living.


I am pretty sure that these views I have on the private and recreational use of motor vehicles (and in indeed other machines) would be similar today regardless of my own personal experiences, which I am going to share with you now.  I have decided to publish this account, if for no other reason than to direct people here when they ask me why I hate cars so much so I dont have to talk about it any more.
